I wonder if Krystal would address the college application process? She says her oldest is a high school senior, so she is probably towards the end of this process.
I ask this as I was up until midnight last night helping my 18 year old son submit the largest tranche of college applications.
The entire process has been enraging and frustrating- largely because it seems pointless.
Throughout my son's time in high school I've been bombarded with ads and pitches for "college coaches," listened to friends admit the process is causing them marital stress (I'll also admit to that), and seen the toll this process is taking on my son.
Major universities seem to want our children to spend their teenage years auditioning like beauty pageant contestants for admissions officers' approval. How about our kids: 1. just be teenagers 2. develop an ethos for just doing well for the satisfaction of doing well?
I've even heard LinkedIn lexicon around "building your personal brand" spread down to teenagers.
Scott Galloway equates college degrees to high end brand logos and emphasizes that the most important years in a young man's life are 27 (ish) through 40, not 15-20.
Would love to hear thoughts.
