As a healthcare professional working in pharmacy, I respectfully urge you to consider doing a segment on the recent Rite Aid closures and the broader crisis unfolding in the retail pharmacy sector.
Rite Aid’s shutdown is not just the story of another corporate bankruptcy — it’s a symptom of a systemic problem. The retail pharmacy landscape has been deteriorating for years, and those of us on the front lines have watched the quality of care we provide to patients decline steadily. A major cause is the continued reduction in insurance reimbursements, making it nearly impossible to operate sustainably.
Even more troubling is the consolidation happening through vertical acquisitions — where insurers, pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs), and large retailers are merging or colluding — squeezing out independent pharmacies and now even national chains like Rite Aid. These monopolistic dynamics are crushing small business owners and stripping communities of access to local, reliable care.

I did not listen to the entire video, but the speech by Ms. Sawant is what we need to hear more of, in my opinion. Note, democracy and some socialist policies are intrinsically entwined, cannot have true democracy without it because the purpose of government is to protect the people and the purpose of an economy is to support the entire population, not hold them in poverty.
