You guys need to be careful about who you let on the show. I just finished listening to your interview with Nate Seares, who wrote that terrifying book about AI, and I went to look up his credentials.
He doesn't have them.
He started his own company claiming to research machine intelligence. And that's it. He is not an engineer, he is not an expert, he doesn't have training or background in this field. He was spouting a bunch of incorrect things in this interview, leaning into dramatic Hollywood tropes and getting the technical details all wrong. And the logic didnt logic, either. So many nonsequiturs!
To be clear, I am skeptical of AI, and I don't think that it is a good thing at this point in history. But the scenarios he was warning about are not actually the real problems with AI. The problems with billionaire usage of these machines, the power and water issues, etc., are much more salient than "rise of the terminator" BS.
