Breaking Points is an independent news program hosted by Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti. CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC are ripping us apart and making millions of dollars doing it. We don't have soulless billionaires or corporations backing our high end TV production, but we do have YOU. Together we're creating better, more insightful news to help us understand the world.

Spotify Trouble? We're Here For You

The Spotify connection has been fixed and we're seeing the majority of users able to connect via the instructions here:

Connect To Spotify: https://support.locals.com/en/article/connecting-to-spotify-dtbjpj/?bust=1745352886430

However some are still having issues, so we'd like to flag a few common ones:

  • Make Sure you're using the WEB BROWSER not the APP when following the guide

  • The instruction guide shows TWO different methods. You only need to follow the steps to ONE.

  • Audio hits Spotify a few minutes before Video each day, if you're seeing Audio only wait 5-10 minutes and the video will appear!

Still having trouble? Please contact Locals Support here: http://breakingpoints.locals.com/contact

Hey Breaking Points producers: Someone I would be really interested to hear you guys bring on to the show to weigh in on the "Abundance" hullabaloo is Chuck Marohn, the founder/president of Strong Towns. He's the author of "Escaping the Housing Trap," so he has a long history of writing/activism in this space. Here's a recent article that inspired this recommendation: https://www.strongtowns.org/journal/2025/5/5/america-should-sprawl-not-if-we-want-strong-towns

Strong Towns is an urbanist organization that advocates for solving some of the urban development crises that we have in the US through localizing development. On a personal level, I clock Mr. Marohn as sort of vaguely right/libertarian coded but Strong Towns as a movement is very locally focused, pretty agnostic about national politics, and so doesn't map well onto right/left binary. There's an interesting overlap with YIMBYism, but Mr. Marohn has tangled with YIMBYs in the past on the practical matters of the YIMBY viewpoint that...

Two notes on MK Ultra:
First, the guest yesterday opens saying the CIA wanted to study brainwashing cuz Korean War POWs confessed to crimes they didn’t commit. But I’ve heard that part of it was all the soldiers who defected to China / N Korea https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_American_and_British_defectors_in_the_Korean_War

Second, mind control assassination sounded crank to me until I heard Lisa Pease explain her Robert Kennedy 1968 thesis, I think on Bri Joy Gray.
