Breaking Points

Breaking Points is an independent news program hosted by Krystal Ball and Saagar Enjeti. CNN, Fox News, and MSNBC are ripping us apart and making millions of dollars doing it. We don't have soulless billionaires or corporations backing our high end TV production, but we do have YOU. Together we're creating better, more insightful news to help us understand the world.

Shouldn’t we have disclosures of political endorsements similar to what the FTC requires of YouTubers for product endorsements or placements? See https://www.ecfr.gov/current/title-16/chapter-I/subchapter-B/part-255

A celebrity political endorsement shouldn’t be disclosed only after the fact. It should be part of the same event as the endorsement itself. Just like YouTubers have to disclose any product support.

Tulsi Gabbard has clearly been preparing for the role of Director of National Intelligence with great dedication...er, by adding that white streak to her hair in time, so she can look like La Contessa Valentina Allegra de la Fontaine, the fictional Marvel spy character.

I mean, stylistically, it's not the wrong choice. On the nose and more than a little silly, but not wrong.

And hey, as far as I know there is only one storyline in which the character - usually a S.H.I.E.L.D. spy - becomes Madame Hydra, the head of an organization that originated in Nazi Germany. That's, er, something.

Genuine Question to the audience -

If the Democratic Party TOMORROW Pledged to never again take a CENT of corporate donor money/Super PAC money, and instead asked for you to sign up for a donation subscription, who'd sign up? I'd be the first to say HELL YES. Or am I just being a naieive, hopeless populist idiolog?

Hadn’t thought about this until today. But I registered as a democrat at 18 in 2005. In ~20yrs I’ve been asked to donate hundreds of times, if not more.

shocking that in that same span I’ve never been sent a survey or asked directly what I’d like to see, what I think about proposals or how I would vote on an issue/person/whatever.

And claiming those bases are covered w/polling is idiotic.
